The US Mint in Denver has expanded many times over its 100-plus-year history at this location. Built in 1904, the original entrance on Colfax Avenue had been closed to the public. Many years ago, a new visitor entrance was built to the east, allowing tours through the building, but visitors to the Coin shop (Numismatics room) and Mint employees had no real entrance. This addition to the Mint featured a new entrance that was designed to consolidate those services in a new and dramatic front to the building.
