Lena Lovato Archuleta Elementary was built to serve the fast-growing northeast Denver communities near Denver International Airport. The school is located adjacent to a park and other community facilities.

The building arranges learning classrooms in clusters for each grade around a common “Instructional Materials Center”. Circulation is organized through the use of a high-volume, skylit great hall. The great hall is the central circulation spine that links the classroom groups to common areas and assists children and visitors in orienting themselves within the building.
